Counseling & Support
Led by Arlene McCoy. By appointment · Monday to Thursday
Chapel TNC keeps three accredited counselors on retainer and covers the cost of the first six sessions for anyone in the congregation or the surrounding neighborhood. There is no means test and no form beyond a name and a phone number.
What this is
Ordinary talking therapy, delivered by people with professional accreditation who are bound by the same confidentiality any other practice would hold. Nothing said in a session reaches the church office, the pastors, or anyone else.
What this is not
It is not spiritual direction, and it is not a substitute for medical care. If what you are carrying needs a doctor, we will say so and help you get there.
The groups
- Bereavement, first and third Mondays. Eight weeks, closed group, run twice a year.
- Recovery, Thursdays, open. Twelve-step, meets whether two people come or twenty.
- Carers, second Saturday mornings. For people looking after a parent, a partner or a child with long-term needs.
- Separation and divorce, on request, when there are enough people to form a group.
Nobody is asked what they believe in order to sit in any of these rooms.
Getting in touch
Call the office and ask for the counseling line, or email Arlene directly. The usual wait for a first appointment is under two weeks; if it is urgent, say so and it will be the same week.
