Grace Concert Series

A monthly concert in the sanctuary, which turns out to have an unusually good acoustic for a building nobody designed with that in mind.

The format

Doors at seven, music at half past, finished by ten with an interval. One ensemble a month, booked a year ahead: chamber groups, choirs, a jazz trio in March, and the church’s own musicians twice a year.

Entry is free. There is a retiring collection at the door which is split between the performers and the building fund, and it is announced from the front exactly how.

This month

The Ashford Consort — five voices, early English polyphony, and a short second half of twentieth-century settings of the same texts. Roughly ninety minutes with an interval.

Practical details

  • Unreserved seating; the building holds three hundred and has been full twice
  • Step-free access through the south door, hearing loop throughout
  • Children welcome; there is no crèche
  • Drinks in the foyer from seven and through the interval
